The piriformis is a muscle found deep in the buttock on each side. Piriformis syndrome is irritation of the sciatic nerve by this muscle. This condition is often mistaken for sciatica, and disc pain but is actually the muscle pinching the nerve. Often times we see patients that feel that they have sciatica, when in fact they have this condition. We take the time to determine if your pain is from the back, from this condition or both.
